A trip of a lifetime!

Most Scottish Highland Cattle breeders dream about seeing Highland cattle in their country of origin… and for Lincoln and I (Tanika), that dream has recently become a reality.

In partnership with Blasta Mhor Highland Cattle, Lincoln has been lucky enough to participate in an international exchange to Scotland, where he will spend 7 weeks learning all things Scottish Highland Cattle from Angus McGillivray.

I accompanied Lincoln for the first week of his journey, and together we visited Highland cattle folds, Inveraray Castle, Glencoe, Oban, and many Lochs and villages in between. The landscape was beyond expectation… larger than life and beautifully rugged.

Seeing Highland cattle in their natural environment was an absolute highlight for me. For the first time, I truly understood the attributes that make them fit for purpose. They traverse the harsh landscape and thrive in conditions where most others would perish. A new respect for the breed I’ve long loved.

Glencoe

While I made the long journey home, Lincoln will stay on for another 7 weeks. Throughout his time, he will be immersed in the traditional way of Highland Cattle. Towards the end of his trip, he will attend the Oban Show & Sale - the pinnacle of events on the Highland Cattle calendar.

We are incredibly thankful to Blasta Mhor Highland Cattle and Angus & Inga MacGillivray for providing this opportunity to Lincoln. Angus & Inga made us feel right at home, and I have absolute comfort knowing Linc is being treated as though he is family… way over on the furthest side of the world!
